NAGASAKI – Wilderness Mute

  • Parkway United Church of Christ 2841 N. Ballas Road St. Louis, MO 63131 USA (map)

NAGASAKI Poem – Wilderness Mute is a multidisciplinary musical presentation. It features a song cycle related to atomic blast in Nagasaki accompanied with Haiku images, and solo Butoh dance performances inspired by survivors of the Japan atomic bomb blast in 1945.

The work aims to commemorate the atomic attack in Nagasaki & Hiroshima, and to raise awareness of the urgency to prevent another nuclear war considering the current tensions with North Korea.

NAGASAKI Poem talks to us of taking care of mother Earth. “The Earth is sick” says one of the stanzas by the Japanese composer Keiko Fujiie. Developing a sensibility toward the atomic question and nuclear disasters is reached by engaging and relating to each other as human beings.
